This is my sample activity for One-computer classroom.
Firstly, I would like to make a short introduction to this lesson for you to get an idea of how and why I'd like to implement this particular activity into the one of my lessons. The topic is: Planning a trip to London . Pupils will work on this topic for a month in groups and individually at home. The purpose is to create our travel arrangements for a four-day trip to London and to finish it by designing a Wiki page with all the details they come up for this trip.
STUDENTS: Year 6 pupils
PART OF THE LESSON TO USE THE ACTIVITY: After the introduction (brainstorming and describing the pictures of famous sights in London) students will start working in groups to create one day plan for our four day trip to London. They will get short guidelines on the tasks around which they need to build ideas in order to organize a day visit. The tasks are sorted by the titles:Meals, Transport, Free time, Visit to. The students will be forming groups according to a place/day of visit: 1.Greenwich, 2.the Tower of London, 3.Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament and 4.Buckingham Palace. Visit to task requires the use of the computer. The pupils explore the Web on the famous sight they've been given within their group. This is called the station work where students rotate from one station(task) to another. The time for each station/task in this lesson is 15 minutes.
ABCD OF THE LESSON: Year 6 students will work in groups in order to plan one day each for our four day trip to London around a specific place for the particular day, using all the knowledge they posses and exploring the Internet on this subject in not more than 60 minutes.
WHY USING THE TECHNOLOGY: Searching the Internet can help students build their knowledge on famous places. Web offers a great deal of updated information that can assist them on this topic. In this way pupils feel they can create new ideas from the information they find.
